A couple was found dead, while their four-day-old newborn baby was found alive near their bodies, at their residence in Uttarakhand. Preliminary investigations suggest the deceased man was debt-ridden. Further investigations were underway.
The decomposed bodies of a man and his wife were discovered at their residence in Uttarakhand's Dehradun, while their four-day-old newborn baby was found alive at the spot.
According to the details, the bodies had been lying unattended for nearly three days.
The deceased were identified as 25-year-old Kashif and his wife Anam (22), natives of Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh. The couple got married a year ago.
Reports said Kashif had got married a second time and had a child from his first marriage too.
The matter came to light after a foul smell began emanating from the house, prompting authorities to investigate.
Upon receiving information, a team of police officials reached the spot and sent the bodies for postmortem examination to determine the cause of death, while the child was promptly admitted to a hospital for immediate care.
Preliminary investigations into the case suggested that the husband had taken a loan and had financial burdens, forcing the couple to die by suicide.
Additional information provided by the deceased's first wife, Nusrat, suggested she had been trying to reach out to her estranged husband for the past two to three days. However, she was unable to get in touch with him.
They last spoke on June 10 at 11 pm, Nusrat told police.
Nusrat also said Kashif had told her about a Rs 5 lakh loan which he had taken from someone.
Nusrat said she went to Kashif's house after he did not respond to her calls, but found that the house was locked. She informed her father-in-law and brother-in-law about the situation.
Further investigations into the case were underway.
